Exotic Fairy

The Illustration Friday challenge is exotic.
Created on an android tablet. I used some embroidery work for her clothes and skeleton leaves for wings.

Mona Collage

I did this with the sketchbook challenge in mind which is 'sketching with collage.'
Actually I didn't sketch any of the parts so I don't know that it will qualify for that particular challenge. I did paint the background though with aquamarkers and posca pens. I'd been having a clear out of old art magazines and I thought I would use some of the images.

Textured Landscape Art Quilt

A small A4 art quilt.
I first textured the fabric with Golden course molding paste and cut snippets from a page in a book which were glued along the hill line. It was painted with inktense blocks, apart from the sky. I used bamboo wadding to sandwich between the top and backing fabric. Stitching was applied around the main elements, then further stitching on the nearest meadow and the sky. I was a bit worried about the sewing machine stitching through the texture so more stitching was applied by hand on the hills. The binding was also textured and painted.

Various WIP

WIP - an acrylic painted abstract, collaged
WIP - a collage. I painted the middle of the paper with gesso, then stuck on some paper from a book cut in the shape of leaves. I then painted it green. This was a mistake as I should have painted it before sticking as it puckered. But it doesn't look bad now that it is stitched.

WIP - page in a sketchbook. Drawn lines with real skeleton leaves stuck to it. I can't make my mind up whether to leave this as is or add more to it.

Scary Creature and Scribble Bird

I drew the scary creature above in December when reindeer's were on my mind. I'm glad they don't look like this.
And a scribbly bird on a real sky.

More Art Buttons

I've been making more art buttons, probably for a new book I'm making.
For the blue buttons above I used clear buttons and art work.

I used some big buttons for these two, unfortunately I didn't read the words on the bit of book page before I used it, it'll have to be on a sad page.

These were some of the patterns I used for a fabric design. Clear buttons and inkjet print.

More clear buttons and art work.
Do you want to make some? See the tutorial on how to make them.

Which Reef?

There is a design contest coming up on Spoonflower for a fabric design on the Great Barrier Reef. I've done two possibilities but which one shall I enter, the more realistic one or the doodley one, although they are both quite busy.
What do you think? Click on image to enlarge.

Little Landscape Quilts

My A4 art quilts are finished and have been sent off for the Little Landscapes Journal Quilts challenge. They will be judged then go on a tour at the Spring Quilt Festival.
I used inketense blocks to paint the background, the hare was an inkjet print [t-shirt type] and I've hand embroidered extensively. The other quilt is similar except it is a view through a camera lens. The camera and hand was also an inkjet print and the background as the previous quilt.

This is a digital version I was experimenting with originally.

York

I went to visit family in South Yorkshire at the weekend and on the way back home we did a detour to York. These are a few of the photos I took there. We were lucky with the weather, it was cold but dry. Dry is an unusual word to use for weather in this country at the moment!
