Sketchbook Revival New Year Challenge with daily prompts from Sarah Simon
Day 1 - Ranunculus - continuous pen line drawing
Day 2 - Cosmos - coloured pencil sketch
Day 3 - Rose - pencil and fine line pen drawing
I thought I would paint one too
Day 4 - Lily - Dip pen and ink
I used Dr P H Martin Bombay Inks
I tried painting with the inks but they don't blend like watercolours
Day 5 [last day] Dahlia - Mixed Media
I used pencil, eraser!, pen, watercolours and Inktense blocks and pencils.
I found this flower the biggest challenge, I kept losing my place and I'm sure a lot of the petals are in the wrong place. But I don't think I would have attempted copying a dahlia flower before this.

It still looks just like a dahlia. I know what you mean about "losing your place" in a complicated scene, but remember that your painting is a new creation, not the thing itself!
