Friday Catch Up - 6th February 2026

Doodlewash Art Challenge and Friday Face Off
1. Armadillo
2. Button, 4. Clouds
5. Stump, 6. Sunrise

I painted this elephant.[3. Doodlewash] on watercolour paper using watercolour paints and fine liner.
The other Doodlewash pictures are in a cartridge paper sketchbook.
I might be sending the elephant to the POSTCARD ART EXHIBIT 2026
They invite artists on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, and LinkedIn to contribute postcard-sized original works of art. Each exhibition is hosted in a different physical location, often in a new country each year, where the public can view and purchase the art to support the selected beneficiary, this year funds benefit people affected by Alzheimer's.

I also did a sun bear
Another option is one from some older paintings
I can only send one and I can't decide which it will be.

Photo Challenges
The first one was taken at Wallington, the rest at Beamish

Retirement cottages for mineworkers

Patchwork Bear
I also made a bear this week out of leftover fabric. It was really to try out the pattern which was from Etsy. I found some embroidered tablecloths at my mothers house and I thought I would make memory bears for my sisters out of one of them if I dare cut it up.

Flower of the Week

That's it for today. I hope your weather is better than here, it has been miserable most of the time since the new year started. Cold, wet and dark.
Enjoy your week!

  5. I always enjoy seeing your drawings. They are once again super. And I wonder at those museum houses. I know at a museum they are neat, but did people have clutter the way we do now, or do we live in a clutter time? Have a super weekend ahead.

  6. There is, as always, so much to see on your blog. It is quite impossible to select which of the postcards to submit. I can see your dilemma!
The patchwork teddy is sweet and cuddly. Why not ask your sisters what they think before cutting up the tablecloth?

We have actually had a little sunshine today!!!
With all the grey clouds and rain it was wonderful to see, even if it only lasted a short while.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    All the best Jan

  11. While the sun bear and your older paintings offer a variety of options, the elephant's charm is undeniable. As for the patchwork bear, using embroidered tablecloths as memory bears is such a thoughtful idea—there’s a lot of love stitched into those pieces.
