Wedding Cushion

I was at the wedding of one of my nieces on Sunday. It's been 'tradition' over the last few weddings that I've attended that I've made a heart, usually a small embroidered heart although last time I decorated a wooden heart. This time I made a cushion. I cut the letters out with my Zing and used a Heat'n bond backing, then ironed in place. I used wadding so that it would have a quilted feel and embroidered around the letters and hearts with a running stitch. I put more stuffing in the hearts from a cut in the backing fabric, like trapunto quilting.

Large Swatch Quilt

I finished a quilt made out of swatches from Spoonflower all of which are my designs.
You can find all the fabrics here.
I'm afraid none of the photos are particularly good though.

Geneva

I came back from Geneva yesterday where I've spent a few lovely days.
We had lovely weather most of the time but you can see the clouds coming in on the photo and it was very wet yesterday.
This was a metal sheet sculpture with a cut out of a singer, behind I've captured the lake, mountains and sky which looks like her dress. This was taken at Montreux at the top of Lake Geneva/Lake Leman.

Wee Folk

I bought myself a new book by Salley Mavor maker of wee folk. My friend and I had a go at making one following the instructions in the book. Mine is dressed in yellow and Helen's is in green. I made rather a mess of her face and some of the wrapped thread is untidy and she has very long arms - we didn't have the right size pipe cleaners. I stood her next to the large doll so you could get an idea of scale.

New Sketchbooks

I couldn't resist a good offer for a pile of sketchbooks. They'll keep me going for a while, eh?
