doodle anglaise

sketch book doodle - including flowery bits and broderie anglaise [sb1p57]

spider web tree

This is a combination of a photo of a tree and a web like pen drawing.

The original drawing can be seen on my 'illustration friday' blog site entry for 'cracked' http://linsdoodles.wordpress.com/category/pen-ink/

stone wall in France

I've just come back from a great holiday in France, so today's offering is a photo I took of an interesting stone in a wall.

floral

Ideas for floral ATC's [sb1p49]

metallic pen drawing

Different metallic pens in silver & gold on black paper, reminds me of a doyley.

(mixed media) sea - fish

A drawing of fish from a sketch book has been combined with a transfer print of the sea.
(transfer print - original artwork painted on paper with transfer paints, ironed onto fabric)

ooodles of doooodles

I'm sometimes a bit nervous about starting the first page in a new sketch book, but I think I definitely had the word doodle in my mind when I did this one.

watch the birdies

sketch book doodle [sb1p35]

River doodle

Not 'Where's Wally?' but Where's Bunny?

Twisted Tree 1

Another twisted rowan tree

Twisted Tree

The little tree seedlings I find in my garden, I transfer to pots to keep them small and then twist their branches as they grow into knots and twists. Is it cruel?

Sculpture

I like this sculpture at Liverpool Street Station - Kindertransport Memorial.

In 1938 and 1939, nearly 10,000 unaccompanied Jewish children left Germany, Austria and Czechoslovakia by train, for the freedom of Britain.

Mushrooms

Coloured pen drawing

House & Tree applique

Fabric/print/drawing/paint/applique

Paisley

Metallic pens on black paper

Lost Gardens of Heligan

Did the ground swallow him up?

Swatch house & tree

The house & tree are inkjet prints on paper. The paper was probably a test print, printed when my printer was misbehaving and I recycled it for this picture. The shapes were cut out & machine stitched.

Vintage Photograph

This is the back of an old photograph [1948]. The photograph on the reverse would have been hand coloured and on the back as shown are two lists of colours [including eyes] - one for the gent & one for the lady.

Bird, nest and chicks

White pen on black paper

Hat Designs

Hats again today. Would you wear one or are they too weird?

For more of my strange hats see my picture for 'parade' on Illustration Friday.

Hat

Another hat doodle. Looks a bit like an elongated police hat with a pattern on it.

Just Hats

Three Wise Monkey's

On a street bench in San Fransisco.

"See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil"

Sketch Book Doodle

A doodle from my sketch book - what is it? Abstract?

Oriental Trees

I don't know what these trees are called but they are very unusual. Seen in the Japanese garden in San Francisco

Gnarled Tree

I love trees, especially twisted, gnarled and in weird shapes. This one was spotted in California.

Alien creature or flower?

I've never been to the Chelsea flower show - I would like to. I saw this plant in San Francisco, it looks like an alien creature.

Sailing

Another one from my doodle book. I was wondering how long it has been since I started using this style of drawing with the diamond shapes. I can recall working in the general office of an accountants when I was in my teens [a long time ago...] and sticking the waste edges from sheets of stamps onto the petty cash tin and then drawing lots of irregular stripes with the triangle pattern in them, similar to the waves on this picture. I've evidently not got tired of doing it yet!

Farm Doodle

A page in my doodle book

Queen of Bolly

Altered box and doll, collection of found objects.

Psychedelic 60's

One from my doodle book. I prefer this one with a bit of colour. I don't always colour sketches in, and when I do , it's usually at a later date, quite often when I can't think of something to draw, or while watching TV. So my doodle books are colouring books too. I used to enjoy colouring in as a child , but did you know that you can buy colouring books for adults? I saw some in a shop the other day.

Police Box

Has Dr Who's tardis shrunk?

Recycled papers - house & tree

Experiments with recycled papers and stitching for the Vervey project 'Reworked, Recycled, Revealed'.

Reflections

These were taken last December on a Suffolk beach.

Jack Diamond Case

This is a little 'altered' case which I did as part of a college project - on the theme of games - product being fabrics, although I don't think I used anything from this particular piece on the fabrics, but I did enjoy doing the case. It contains lots of little found objects and it belongs to Jack Diamond of The Castle which has sparked another idea off .........& is one of the things I've started recently.

Bows

A page from one of my sketchbooks - all bows of various shapes, sizes and colours.

New York reflections

This was taken in New York a few years back on a college trip. [taken with my old camera]

I love the way the old building is reflected in the glass of the newer building, two completely different styles of architecture.

Terraced

It started as a row of five houses ................

Victorian Staithes

This one is from one of my doodle/sketch books, drawn with pens after looking at a book of old photos.

Wild Garlic

Went for a nice walk in the woods at Sinnington, North Yorks yesterday. I've never seen so much wild garlic in blossom in one place. Are the bulbs the similar to the garlic you buy in shops and can you eat it?

The game is never lost till won

This is a small deep type frame and in it are lots of found objects - mostly related to games. Attached to the front is an altered card of a queen.

House Wife Paper Doll

This is another paper doll made from recycled papers [old art work] etc All parts are made in the shape of houses with stitched edges and joined with brads - all moveable parts.

Housemaid Paper Doll

This is another paper doll made from house shapes, this one is joined together with brads, has a pinny & hat made from doileys and is holding a feather duster.
