Weebles Christmas Party
These cards were inspired by a set of 22 bronze figures at Little Haven, South Shields [North of England], sculptured by Juan Munoz. It is called the Conversation Piece but they are known locally as the weebles.
This is how 4 of them they really look

Knitted santa & snowman, snowman in snow
Knitted snowman & santa - these were made when the kids were small so probably about 20+ years old
I wanted a photo of a snowman [for artistic purposes, you understand] so I went out to build one [by myself, I'm still a kid at heart], but the snow was so crumbly it wouldn't hold together, so I just drew one in the snow instead with a trowel

Statue of Liberty - Christmas
A card design I did a couple of years ago. The background of taxis was an applique, the statue is a photo and the rest was drawn.

Snowmen Applique
Another applique of snowmen. It started snowing here today, first I've seen here this winter, perhaps it's because I keep putting pictures of snowmen on my blog.

Penguins
It's getting colder by the day so I thought I would share my penguins with you today. I like the ideas, but the execution is not the best.
The top one is all machine embroidery and the bottom one is machine embroidery & paint on stretchy fabric - experiments for t-shirt designs.

Fish & Seaweed
Another picture in the Arc exhibition [see Thurs 12th]. This one has a top layer of transfer printed fabric [paper was painted and then was transferred onto fabric with a heat press]. Under the semi transparent fabric is a painted fish which has been hand embroidered and has threads hanging from its tail [but trapped under the top layer]. The seaweed was painted on the canvas and also hand stitched on the top layer with added beads and sequins. The fabric is wrapped around a canvas frame.

Exhibition - A bit of a Mixture
My friend Helen and myself have a new exhibition which we put up today. Helen's pieces are of birds and animals and mine are floral, fish/sea and abstract. The space was supposed to be for another friend and daughter, but due to illness they didn't finish the work, and had to cancel. Well we couldn't see an empty gallery space going to waste could we, so we volunteered to fill it.
Below - One of the pieces on show - Dahlia & Fly

Robins
Sketch Book - trying to draw european robins, a symbol of wintertime and Christmas - in the UK anyway, are they in other countries? I have seen pictures of the American and Australian Robins and they look totally different to the European type, bigger but they do have a red breast too.

Stumpwork samples
These are the first experiments with stumpwork when I was doing my City & Guilds Embroidery. I like the lady with the green scarf the most.
