Friday Catch up - 25Feb22

 Doodlewash Challenge

I've been working on a postcard for the Twitter Art Exhibit. Postcards are sent in from all over the world which are sold and the money raised goes to a good cause. This year it is to benefit the Encephalitis Society.
I did several postcards but didn't like them enough but I've decided on the hare as the painting on that came out the best. I did a little 4"x4"version for a Doodlewash prompt earlier this month.

I painted this version on Bristol board, the painting didn't look good so I did another version on watercolour paper, the painting was still not right. I also did a cat but didn't like it's nose.

Doodlewash 22Feb22

I'm not up to date with Doodlewash and I've not done anything recently on my illustration course. I've been babysitting and looking at possible holidays instead.

Little Watercolour Paintings and Bamboo Pens

Doodlewash Challenge

Falcon - I tried painting directly onto the paper without drawing

Crocus - I did two versions because I didn't like the bud next to the stalk on the one below

I bought some bamboo pens as they were used in the illustration course I am doing. These are the marks I made with the pens while trying them out, they were easier to use than expected. Bought from E-bay for £2.99, there were a lot to choose from but these were the cheapest that I could see, I didn't want to spend much in case I never use them again.

Friday Catch Up 11Feb22

Illustration Course
This time I had to draw a folded cloth using just dots or just cross hatching lines using a dip pen.

I thought the fist dotty one I did looked like a dinosaur. The cloth was folded differently, I don't think it had enough creases in it so I tried again [above]

Happy Paint Party Friday - my work was featured from last week, yeah

Watercolour Paintings and Illustration Course Progress

Illustration Course
I don't know if I wasn't in the right frame of mind but I was disappointed with my efforts for this exercise.

Friday Catch Up 4Feb22

Another exercise for the illustration course I am doing. We had to choose an artwork then do lots of versions of it, starting similar and them altering it in someway and using different media. I chose a self portrait by Frida Khalo painted in 1940. The original version by Frida is shown at the end.

Watercolour and pen

Thin acrylic applied with a dip pen

Sketching sticks [similar to charcoal only fatter]

Textured paper, clay colouring crayons

Textured paper, inktense pencils, water

Various green pens
