Embroidered Birds

Mainly back stitch and French Knots.
Sorry for the terrible photos, it was so dark even on a south facing window shelf.
There are actually three different coloured fabrics and threads.
I will be making a cushion cover so hopefully the photo of that will be better.

I've been playing with Gelli prints and made the collage out of those sheets.
I used acrylic paints and a variety of papers.

Grand Palace, Bangkok

Temple of the Dawn, Wat Arun, Bangkok

Angkor Thom, Siem Reap, Cambodia

  1. Great set of different art 🎨

  2. OMGosh! I am so impressed with the birds. They are so delicate and pretty. Lovely Gelli prints too. Your photos are so wonderful. Thank youfor sharing with FFO and have a very nice weekend.

  3. I'm sure the birds on the cushion cover will look great.
Beautiful photographs from Bangkok and Cambodia.

    Have a happy February.
    Happy weekend too.

    All the best Jan

  4. Hi, Lin! Your little stitched birds are lovely. Thanks for sharing the photos of Siem Reap, a magical city I'd love to return to. Happy weekend!

  5. Some fine photos here. If you would like some tutoring on photo post-processing let me know.

  6. It's nice to see your embroidery again. Are the birds based on your own drawings?
Your fabulous gelli paint collages make me think of Japanese screens.
There are so many beautiful doorways in Asia.

    1. Yes the birds are based on my own drawings from photos I found on the web.

  7. I like everything in this post! I really like the bird stitchings and your painted collage. The doors are wonderful, as are the photos for Pull up a Seat. Thanks again for including Thursday Doors in the mix!

  8. Here I am catching up on Saturday!
    These are lovely.

  9. Lovely birds! And the gelli plate art is beautiful.

  10. The stitched birds look charming, and will look better in a better light!

  11. I don't think my knees would bend far enough to sit on that low of a stool...can't even think about how on earth I'd get back up. Guaranteed it would not be graceful.
