Crazy Patchwork Pouches

A couple of little pouches made from scraps of fabric and decorated with machine embroidery. They are not the best made items but it was just a bit of an experiment really.

Scribble on Fabric

I was having a play about with inktense blocks on fabric.

I may embroider it in the future.

I did this one on my tablet when my sister-in-law had her knee operation

WIP - Textured Art Quilt

Another small A4 art quilt with a landscape them.

I textured the fabric with Golden course molding paste and bits from a page of a book. Colour was added with inktense blocks. I quilted it with bamboo wadding and backing fabric and stitched some basic lines on the hills and around the trees on a sewing machine. It needs a lot more quilting but will my sewing machine like going through the paste for any length of time.

Vintage Buttons

I actually bought these vintage buttons last March in Hastings but it is the first time I have had a good look at them. Makes me wonder what type of clothing they were on and who wore them.

Bird Tea Towel Design

My design for the Spoonflower 2014 calendar tea towel contest.

The background was from an original art work - I used real leaves for stamping with, the birds I drew on a tablet.

The fabric is available at Spoonflower. The design fits on a fat quarter of linen-cotton canvas, the edges need to be turned and stitched. Could also be used as a hanging.

The background was created with butterfly brushes in sketchbook pro.

WIP - Landscape Quilt

I've done lots more embroidery on the A4 landscape quilt and I've lightened the sky as it was a bit overpowering. 

I've not done any on it today - my finger is a bit sore, caught it a few times with the needle.

Jug and Cup Collage

A page from my long tall sketchbook. I started with painted background [dye solution and the marks were made with bubble wrap, the type with big bubbles]

I painted a page in an old book, then drew on the jug and cup, and painted a few more features. Then they were cut out and stuck to the background.

Elephant

I went for softer colours on this one, looks a bit like pastel but it was actually done on a tablet [samsung galaxy note] using layers in sketchbook pro.

Red Sky at Night and Embroidered T-Shirt

We have had some really colourful sky recently

I bought a plain t-shirt and stitched on some flowers. The t-shirt is actually a lot darker and a different colour than the photo looks, it's like a really dark jade. Instructions below.

I drew a sketch on paper, then I put some stabiliser on top [something like stitch and tear although I think mine was regular stitching stabiliser]. As you can see through the stabiliser it is possible to copy the design onto it, I used a pen.

Pin the stabiliser to the right side of the t-shirt where you want the placement, then embroider - I used back stitch.

Then carefully tear off the stabiliser. Job done.
