Cot Quilt

I finished a cot quilt last month for my grandson, it was his first birthday in December.
The photo above shows the fabrics before quilting, a couple of them are my designs.

I also made a bag in the same fabrics to hang from the cot to hold toys.

Robin Applique

Embroidery and applique. I used cross stitch and running stitches on the patches, and back stitch for the robin.

Christmas Cake

I made a cake and got out the old decorations to use which I've not done for years. I think you would call them vintage now, they are probably about 30 years old. Notice the rabbit is as big as the Santa!

Cut Work Book - Pages 31-37

Can you spot the faces on the pink one below?

Sketchbook 50
This book is for my collection of paper cuts. These were mainly designed on my tablet, transferred to the computer, then brought into 'Make the Cut' as a pixel trace and then cut with my cutting machine. The machine is a KNK Zing Air. I've used a variety of papers and card.

Snowman 2 and Cards

This is taken from the same drawing of a snowman as yesterday but this one is just stitched.
I used both yesterdays snowman and today's for printed greetings cards.

Embroidered Snowman

The snowman was cut in 'evolon' creative fabric, it's white and doesn't fray so its handy [ans can be painted]. I used fabric scraps for the scarf, hat and nose. A pen was used for the red part of the buttons which spread a little but there are tiny real buttons in the centres. His mouth and eyes are beads as well as the snow falling from the sky. The crumply snow is Tyvek melted between heat proof paper with an iron.

Decorated Jar and Bottle

Continuing from yesterday - we stayed overnight at one of our friends and the next morning we had a workshop decorating bottles. The little jar above was clear but I sprayed it with glass frosting after sticking stars to it. After it was dry I removed the stars and put in the lovely feathers and tied string around the neck.

I sprayed light frosting on the top 3/4 of the jar. After drying I stuck on paper circles [snow] which was waste from a circle punch. Our friend provided us with print outs to cut out but as I'm not very neat with cutting by hand, I cut mine out using my Zing Air. I put a few epson salts in the bottom of the bottle and a battery t-light candle. There is an excellent tutorial and scene printout for the candle jars at Shabby Art Boutique.

Gift Exchange

I met up with the arty girls at the weekend for a meal out and exchange of handmade gifts and cards.
The lovelies I received were a box of cakes - these were made from paper and the lid lifted to reveal little presents - buttons, glitter, chocolate, washi tape.
A handmade book with various types of paper pages and a cover with real leaves. Also a hand cut bird tag.
A handmade book - this one is a weekly planner. Each page was personalized and printed with to do lists, diary, shopping list, doodles etc
A gift to come at a later date

I made and gave 3D layered pictures. Designed in my sketchbook, tweeked on the computer and cut on my Zing Air. I used various cards and papers and also painted the layers which were then put in shop bought frames with glass fronts. The glass made it difficult to photograph because of other things reflected in it. Three of the frames are white although they look blue, the other is black.

I found the dragons as clip art.

A Blast from the Past

We decided to have a clear out in our loft including my old City and Guilds [embroidery] college work and I came across these two Christmas cards in a file. The spikes were made with wide gold ribbon I think although I cannot remember how I made it. I think they maybe called Prairie points. The green card is only about 3" high.

Another item I came across were these earrings which I quite like although I don't wear earrings so I won't be wearing them. Goldwork - beads, cord net.

I rather liked this little poppy picture, hand painted fabric and embroidery
Another card, also handpainted fabric and embroidery.
Another picture with various textures and embroidery
And this textured tree which has now gone with the rubbish collection today. Layered leaves, wool was used for the grass.
I did get rid of quite a bit of stuff, mainly files with paper, samples and lots of empty boxes.

Christmas Tags and Lanterns

Fabric tags, machine stitched and decorated with sequins, beads, braid etc
I actually saved these images from last December because I forgot to post them before Christmas.
Also had a workshop with friends where we made Christmas lanterns from paper and card.
