Friday Catch Up - 27th February 2026

21. Nuthatch
Doodlewash Art Challenge / Friday Face Off
24. Bear
This one has been seen before as I did it a few weeks ago for a possible postcard for the Postcard Art Exhibit. {I chose the elephant to send}

It's been like a teddy bear factory in my home this week.  These are memory bears made from one of my mums embroidered tablecloths. The three large bears are for myself and two sisters.

#

I also made some smaller bears. These are for my two brothers and my mums five surviving granddaughters.

This is the tablecloth. It couldn't really be used as a tablecloth unless it was made smaller and a new edge was stitched. I assume Mum had treated it with something on the edge to stop any fraying but it had turned orangey brown in a lot of places and didn't look nice. It didn't wash out.

Photo Challenges
At Beamish again, first off in the Masonic Hall

then at the Repairs Garage in the 1900's town

and more from the 1950's village

Flower of the Week
A pop of colour in my garden with these mini irises

That's all for this week. Have a great weekend!

  2. OMGosh that bird is amazing. I do like the bear too. Genius making bears out of that keepsake tablecloth. That gives me some ideas. Of course I want that furniture. Lovely flowers. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a nice weekend.

  4. When you first wrote about cutting up your mother's embroidered tablecloth and making teddy bears, I was a bit startled - I am sure I personally would not dare to do such a thing with Mum's work.
Now, I am absolutely convinced you did the right thing.
First of all, you explained the state of the tablecloth and that it would not serve its purpose any longer.
Secondly, the result is fantastic, and each and every teddy bear is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous! You have managed to place the embroidery in just the right place on the teddies' bodies, you have made no fewer than 10! of them, and they will all give so much joy and fond memories of your mother.
    Well done, Linda!

Those mini irises in your garden are certainly cheerful.

  11. Oh your nuthatch and bear paintings are wonderful...adore your bears. My mom had one made for my brother and I when Dad passed away. The lady used one of Dad's favorite shirts. Great pictures of the Masonic temple...my dad and brother and husband were all Masons. Have a lovely end to your week.
