From Sketch to Fabric - Ladybirds

I started with ink drawings of ladybirds, flowers and leaves in my little sketchbook.

And a painted background.

The drawings were also painted.

And then everything was transferred to the computer, where I separated everything and made lots of layers in Photoshop. Then everything was arranged and rearranged until I was happy [enough] with the repeating pattern I had made.

I sent for a fabric sample from Spoonflower using their new fabric, Petal Signature Cotton. I altered the scale for the fabric because I wanted the bugs to look small so it would suit a small child.
